South Korea's largest fishing company and leading canned tuna brand, founded in 1969 by Kim Jae-chul in Seoul. Dongwon launched Korea's first canned tuna product in 1982 and grew into a conglomerate spanning deep-sea fishing, tuna processing, cold-chain logistics, and consumer foods. In 2008 Dongwon acquired StarKist, the largest canned tuna brand in the United States. Dongwon F&B holds over 50% of the Korean canned tuna market. The Changwon factory is one of the world's highest-capacity tuna canning facilities.
