Founded in 1972 by William Tiu Lim as Wilmar, a fish supply company in Navotas. Renamed Mega Global Corporation in 1995 and relocated to Zamboanga City, the sardine capital of the Philippines, to be closer to fishing grounds. The first canning plant opened in 1998. Mega Sardines is the number one sardines brand in the Philippines, built on a trademarked 12-hour catch-to-canning process that preserves freshness and omega-3 content. The brand overtook established competitors in just 15 years and now operates under Mega Prime Foods Inc., a subsidiary of Mega Global Corporation, with factories in Zamboanga and Batangas.
