A producer from Carloforte, the fishing town on the island of San Pietro off Sardinia's southwestern coast, historically one of the most important tuna trap sites in the Mediterranean. The tonnara of San Pietro operated for centuries using the mattanza, a ritual collective hunt in which bluefin tuna were herded into a series of nets and killed by hand. Carloforte Tonnare preserves this tradition in its products.
