I have to say I was not that impressed These had no flavor, I had expected some spicy notes. They are good with hot sauce or mustard.I most likely will not buy these again. High quality fillets without any noticeable scales. Would be great for a sardine sandwich! While I preferred the Briosa spiced sardines over these regular ones, I did enjoy the simplicity of this tin. Super fresh, but lacking everywhere else. It was hard to get these balanced in a meal without the dish losing the focus on the sardines. These simply were too mild for me and I more than likely won’t be purchasing these again. However, these are probably the perfect tin for those “afraid” of tinned fish; I can’t see these being offensive in any way. Our family did a side-by-side comparison of sardines in olive oil from France, Portugal and Spain and these were the entry from Portugal. For me the Briosa sardines won the battle hands down, though there was some debate. Texture and taste were fantastic, with a good quality olive oil. They are a good size without being too big and we found that they tasted good with a number of toppings. For the price, I think it’s a reasonable tin to go into the my rotation.
